Saturday 26th September – Today’s Racing Selections

It’s Saturday once again, and the main racing takes place at Newmarket today. There are also good cards at Haydock and the Curragh Good luck!

Here are today’s racing selections

NEWMARKET

Lucky Vega (3.00) @ 9/4

This 2 year old colt has been very progressive starting off by winning his maiden on debut, before winning the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh in impressive style on only his 3rd start.

You can draw a line through his latest run in the National Stakes (Group 1) where he met trouble in running 1f out, and lost all chance. It is eyecatching that Shane Foley opts to come over to maintain the partnership instead of riding at the Curragh. Granted more luck in running today, I think this son of Lope De Vega can gain compensation for his luckless run LTO.

HAYDOCK

Came From The Dark (2.40) @ 11/4

This 4 year old has run some good races in defeat recently, including here LTO when he finished 1/2 a length 2nd behind the re opposing Count D’orsay.

Trainer Ed Walker has always thought that Came From The Dark (above) has a lot of ability, and I think he can show that today

His trainer Ed Walker has always though this horse has some real ability, it’s just a case of him putting it all together. He likes it here, and his course form figures read 1712, and he shows a liking for give underfoot. He is a son of Dark Angel, so that makes sense.

CURRAGH

Ace Aussie (3.15) @ 13/2

This is an interesting Group 2 contest which could throw up a few nice horses to follow going forward. I like the chances of Jessie Harrington’s son of Australia here, who has shown real promise in his 2 runs to date (21).

He faces some other well bred promising horses here, but I’m hopeful that he can prove to be the best of the bunch today. His dam is related to a Group 3 winner, and there is also a US Grade 1 winner in this colt’s pedigree as well.
